Frequently asked questions
How does BetaHub's sentiment analysis work?
We read messages in the Discord channels you choose and posts on your game's Steam Community Hub, analyze them with AI models on AWS Bedrock, and surface categorized insights: category breakdown, topic grouping, severity-tagged observations and a plain-English summary.
How accurate is it?
Each message is scored on its own by an AI model set up for gaming communities. What improves with time is the baseline: the more history BetaHub has, the better it knows what normal looks like for your community, which is what dips and alerts measure against.
Does it work for non-English servers?
It's optimized for English but handles major European and East Asian languages at usable accuracy. If your server is primarily in one of those, try the free trial and judge the output.
How often does the data update?
Messages are scored every 5 minutes and checked for sharp drops every 15. AI insights and the summary refresh every night.
What happens to the messages after analysis?
You choose under Settings → Sentiments → Privacy. In Private mode, the default, a message's text is used only to score it and is deleted right after; BetaHub keeps its key phrases, sentiment, topic and the author's Discord ID, so it can count people. In Full text mode messages stay in your project until it's deleted, so checks and exports can quote them. Either way they're analyzed on AWS Bedrock and never used to train models.
How much does it cost?
Sentiment analysis is on the Pro and Enterprise plans. Every account can start a 30-day Pro trial with full access.
Can I export the data?
Yes. Insights, topics, rating trend and raw data can all be exported as CSV from the dashboard. In Private mode, exports show key phrases instead of message text.
Can I track specific keywords or topics?
Yes — you can define custom discussion topics in Settings → Sentiments instead of relying on the AI's auto-grouping. Useful when you already know the themes you care about.
Can I follow a few channels on their own?
Yes. Save a report: a named set of channels, such as your bug and suggestion channels, with its own AI insights, summary and crisis flags, next to the whole community. Pro includes 1 report per project, Enterprise 3.
Where do alerts go, and will a small server get them?
By email to the members you pick, as a message in a Discord channel, or to your webhooks. An alert needs at least 15 people posting within three hours, so very small servers get few alerts or none.
Can you analyze messages from before we connected?
Yes. Ask and we import past messages from your Discord sentiment channels, so trends, dips and alerts work from the start. It's included in Enterprise; on Pro, just ask.
Does it count our moderators and developers?
No. BetaHub suggests team roles from their Discord moderation permissions and role names, and leaves those people out of the dashboard, insights, alerts, checks and release reports. You can correct the list under Settings → Sentiments → Team roles.
