What's New in BetaHub: December 2025 & January 2026

February 9, 2026

Two months of updates: custom issue statuses, drag & drop file uploads with annotation, duplicate detection, Discord bot forum thread indicators, GitLab integration, log file redaction, draft releases, and more.

Custom Issue Statuses

Projects are no longer limited to the built-in statuses. You can now create your own statuses and assign them one of four behaviors:

Behavior What It Means
Active Issue is open and needs attention
Resolved Issue has been addressed
Closed Issue is done — no further action needed
Hidden Issue is hidden from players but visible to developers

Rename the defaults or create entirely new ones — In QA, Backlogged, Won’t Fix, whatever fits your workflow. Each status gets a color for visual distinction.

The Discord bot also picks up your custom statuses. When submitting bugs or suggestions through Discord, the status dropdown reflects whatever you’ve configured in BetaHub.

Drag & Drop File Upload with Annotation

Files can now be dragged directly onto the issue edit page. Drop images, videos, or log files — they upload immediately with a progress indicator.

For screenshots, an annotation editor opens after upload. You can draw on the image to highlight areas of interest before attaching it to the report. The editor includes:

  • Drawing tools with cursor preview
  • Keyboard shortcuts for quick tool switching
  • Dynamic upload slots — upload multiple files at once

Similar Bugs & Duplicate Detection

Issue pages now show a Similar Bugs section. BetaHub uses vector search on titles and descriptions to surface related reports — including steps to reproduce.

When a new bug comes in through Discord, the system also checks for duplicates automatically before creating a new issue.

The similar items sidebar uses vector-only search for faster results, and you can configure the number of results returned via the API’s limit parameter.

Discord Bot: Forum Thread Indicators

Forum channels now display visual indicators for bugs and suggestions. Separate indicators show whether a thread is a Bug or a Suggestion, along with its current status and priority.

Indicators are filtered by channel type — bug channels only show bug indicators, suggestion channels only show suggestion indicators.

When the status or priority changes in BetaHub, the forum thread indicator updates automatically.

The bot also now aggregates forum thread messages before submission. If a user posts multiple messages in a thread before the bot processes it, all messages are combined into a single report instead of creating separate entries.

Discord Bot: File Uploads in Bug Report Modal

The bug report modal (Components v2) now supports file attachments. Players can attach screenshots, videos, or log files directly from the Discord modal when submitting a bug report.

GitLab Integration

BetaHub now syncs issues with GitLab — both gitlab.com and self-hosted instances.

  • gitlab.com: Uses OAuth2 for authentication
  • Self-hosted: Uses Personal Access Tokens

Issues sync bidirectionally with attachments included. Configure it in Project Settings → Integrations.

Log File Redaction

Uploaded log files are now automatically scanned for sensitive information — user paths, API keys, session tokens, and other patterns. Matching content is replaced with [REDACTED] before storage.

You can also define your own redaction patterns in Project Settings → Log Redaction Patterns. A built-in pattern tester lets you verify your patterns against sample text before saving.

Draft Releases

Releases can now be saved as drafts. Prepare your release notes, attach builds, and review everything before making it public.

  • Draft — Only visible to developers. No notifications sent.
  • Published — Visible to everyone. Notifications go out.
  • Archived — Hidden from the main list but still accessible.

The API supports the full workflow: create drafts, publish, archive, and restore.

Tag Color Picker

Tags now have colors. When creating or editing a tag, pick from a set of accessible color presets or choose your own. Tags display their color throughout the interface — in lists, filters, and on issue pages.

Member Management

The member management flow has been reworked. A new Manage Access page consolidates member invitations, role assignments, and access requests into one place.

Access requests now correctly respect the role configured at the organization level, instead of defaulting.

Discord Bot: /register_suggestion Command

A new /register_suggestion command mirrors the existing /register_bug. Use it inside a Discord forum thread to register that thread as a feature suggestion in BetaHub.

The bot also now includes documentation links in /set command responses, so you can quickly find the relevant docs for any setting you change.

Performance Improvements

Several pages got noticeably faster:

  • Sentiments page: Load time reduced from 37 seconds to under 2 seconds on projects with large datasets
  • Activity feed: Query time reduced from 65 seconds to 4 milliseconds using optimized UNION ALL queries
  • Comments: Issues with many comments now use batch loading with Turbo Streams instead of loading everything at once
  • Heat calculation: New tiered update algorithm reduces database load by approximately 80%

Other Notable Changes

  • Sentiment trends now include smoothing and signal strength indicators for clearer trend visualization
  • Voting on suggestions now requires sign-in to prevent manipulation
  • Suggestion owners can view their own restricted submissions
  • Watchers list truncates at 10 avatars with an overflow count
  • Single-column layout option available for the bug submission form
  • API keys are now masked on integration edit pages
  • Issue status “New” renamed to “Open” across the platform
  • Asana integration now supports attachment uploads
  • ClickUp integration fixes for OAuth2 tokens and attachment handling

MCP Server Updates

v0.4.0 – v0.6.0:

  • New findSimilarIssues tool for semantic duplicate detection via the API
  • Issue status renamed from new to open
