Joining Projects

Learn how to find and join game testing projects on BetaHub.

Finding Projects to Test

Public Projects

Browse available public projects on the Projects page. Public projects are open to anyone and allow you to join immediately.

To join a public project:

  1. Visit the project’s page
  2. Click the Join Project button
  3. You’ll be added to the project immediately

Private Projects

Private projects require an invitation to join. You’ll need to:

  1. Get an invitation link from the project team
  2. Click the invitation link
  3. Accept the invitation to join the project

Downloading Games

Once you’ve joined a project, you can download the game:

  1. Go to the project page
  2. Click the Download button in the top-right corner
  3. Follow the download instructions provided

Understanding Project Types

Project Visibility

Public Projects:

  • Listed in the public projects directory
  • Anyone can join without invitation
  • Visible to all users

Private Projects:

  • Not listed publicly
  • Require invitation links or access approval to join
  • Only visible to members
  • You can request access if you don’t have an invitation

Requesting Access

If you find a private project but don’t have an invitation, you can request access:

  1. Navigate to the project page (you’ll see an “Access Restricted” message)
  2. Click the Request Access button
  3. Your request will be sent to the project’s developers and admins

What happens next:

  • Project developers or admins will review your request
  • They can approve or reject it from the project’s Members page
  • If approved, you’ll be added to the project automatically and can access it immediately

Role assignment when approved:

  • If you’re a member of the project’s organization, you’ll receive a role based on your organization role:
    • Organization admins and developers receive the Developer role
    • Organization support members receive the Support role
    • Organization testers receive the Tester role
  • If you’re not an organization member, you’ll receive the Tester role

Organization members who request access to projects within their organization receive elevated roles automatically when approved, matching their organization-level permissions.

Project Modules

Projects may have different modules enabled:

  • Bugs - Report technical issues and problems
  • Suggestions - Propose new features and improvements
  • Tickets - Submit general support requests
  • Sentiments - Contribute to community mood tracking
  • Support Knowledge - Access AI-powered help and solutions

Your Role as a Tester

What You Can Do

As a project tester, you can:

  • Report bugs through multiple channels
  • Submit feature suggestions
  • Download game builds
  • View other testers’ reports (depending on project settings)
  • Participate in project discussions

What You Can’t Do

Testers typically cannot:

  • Change bug report statuses
  • Delete other users’ reports
  • Access project management settings
  • Invite other users (unless given special permissions)

Building Your Tester Profile

Portfolio Development

Active participation in projects helps build your tester profile:

  • Track your bug reporting history
  • Showcase quality contributions
  • Demonstrate testing expertise
  • Build reputation in the community
